SMTP AUTH provides a means of authenticating the user ID and password of a user sending mail. This is handled transparently by the mail server and client. When the mail client connects to the mail server, the server tells the client the authorization methods it can use. The client then sends the user ID and password to the server, and the server verifies it.<br>
