While Exchange 12 will be supported in production in the 64 bit flavor only (and if this is news to you, you might want to read this: <a target=_blank href=http://blogs.technet.com/exchange/archive/2005/12/29/416613.aspx)>http://blogs.technet.com/exchange/archive/2005/12/29/416613.aspx)</a> – the Beta 1 bits are still available in 32 bit flavor. That means that Exchange 12 can still be installed in the virtual machine under let’s say Virtual Server, just like Exchange 2000/2003 were.<br>

If you do have a 64 bit machine, realize that even if you install a Virtual Server 2005 R2 on top of Windows 2003 x64 edition, your virtual machines can still host only 32 bit operating systems which means that you will be able to install only 32 bit Exchange 12 under virtual machine.<br>
